I love the new "Bible Teach" book.
In the chapter about Jesus they talk about how people know who Jesus is and even his name, but that dosn't mean anything. We need to know more than just his name, we need to learn about him, what he stood for ect...
That's not a direct quote, but it's the idea of what is said. Compare how they treat the name of Jesus at the start of this chapter with how the view the name Jehvoah. It's amazing, they don't even realize they are doing it.

JW writing committee: Incapable of seeing the irony!
by sir82 inthe march 1 watchtower's cover asks the question, "where can you find christ's teachings?".
meanwhile, in the very same magazine, we get 2 study articles containing the following:.
-- which type of video & video game to avoid.

HOW MANY ARE REALLY TRUE TO ORGANIZATION TEACHINGS???
by chuckyy inmy experience since leaving the jw's, knowing certain ones who still have contact, is that many jw's in good standing have done, or are doing things that could merit expulsion.
celebrating new year.
agreeing to blood transfusion.

It's amazing that when you really take a look at those attending the meetins you realize that many of these people really arn't following what they are being told. Most are simply attending and keeping up the the "basics" simply out of fear and obligation. I've known people who are really dedicated, but they are few.
Most people don't even realize what all of the teachings really are, even current ones.
Most people I have know that go to the hall fall into what I call the "middle" catagory. People who arn't really Bad, but don't really do anything that is GREAT either. They are simply people, like everybody else, following the path of their physical existance. -

Looniest Of All 911 Conspiracy Theories
by sf inso if they used credit cards that identified them, how does that reconcile with the claim that they used false ids to get on to the plane?
maintain that on that september 11th, the invisible.

Why don't you plant some "apostate" literature in the room? Or how about some playgirls. Push some buttons, that what I would do.

I too have heard some elders thinking that they won't be in Brooklyn much longer. "Jehovah is sure speeding up the work in the last days", isn't he?

How will it be after the WTBTS will have fallen ?
by Genesis ini sometimes imagine that the wt is destroyed (mental masturbation yeah) and all the people left without hope, sanity and joy.
this will be terrible in itself, if the wt falls suddently i fear a mass suicide.i recall myself thinking that id would rather die that not be in "the truth".
it will be a terrible shock for everybody.

Dannys got it on this one. No matter what happens, there are going to be core believers. Just think of the Russellites! They still keep hanging on. Anything that happens will be gradual and slow, they will pass away some day like the rest of the religious movements in history that eventually faded away. Just another sentence in a history book they will become, just like the rest.

The Watchtower's Great Game of "Jenga" and Exposure
by metatron injenga is a simple game in which wooden blocks are neatly piled up - and then removed, one by one, until one person ( the person who loses.
the game) makes the pile collapse.. it is tempting to see the organization in the same way - making small but significant "removals" over time.
they pull out food service.

I see where you are coming from on this. The society has been making lost of changes to compensate for what only can be seen as a "slowing down" of their organization.
some of the things you mentioned:
Awake once a month
no more subscriptions
Bethel Downsizing
Books produced more cheaply (they are even releasing a soft cover Bible this year)
In addition to these growing trends
Small growth in developed countries
Lowest worldwide service report in decades
Reading level of the literature lowering to appeal to the only people left that will listen, the third world.
Emphesis on "foreign speaking" territories, the only place they are growing at good numbers (for obvious reasons)
Lowering the service time requirement for some to 15 minutes so they can keep the publisher numbers up.
Lowering the pioneer hour requirements.
They are starting to loose it. It may take years, but I to think a major shift in the religion is taking place, little by little. -

Rumor alert: GB talk Jesus had 7 comings
by truthseeker inthis is reposted from e-watchman with follow up posts, but i thought if it were true, it would be a major breakthrough and embarassment for the society.... http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=658&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=0.
a new talk outline not yet released to the congregations was recently given in miami by a gb member (llsch ?).
it is titled "what the future holds".

I don't expect to see any new "revelations" from the society. Anything they present that seems unusual in recent publications is simply a rewrite of material that allready exsisted.
I wish I had a nickel for every time I heard a C.O. talk about some wierd point that was printed in a 1970's Watchtower and how we should go back and research it. Last C.O. told us this crazy thing about people not having kids during the 1000 years and a bunch of wacky stuff like that. Can't remember the referance, all i remember is that it's from the 70s.
